Sungrow Unveils MG Series ESS to Power Homes Across Southeast Asia

Sungrow unveils its new MG Series residential storage system, aiming to power Southeast Asian homes with smarter, cleaner, and more resilient energy.

July 26, 2025 Sungrow

Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, July 25, 2025 — Sungrow, the world’s leading supplier of PV inverters and energy storage systems (ESS), has officially launched its next-generation residential energy storage system at the 2025 Southeast Asia Distribution Summit. Designed for both reliability and flexibility, the all-new MG Series—available in power ranges from 5 kW to 10 kW (single units)—marks a major milestone in the company’s commitment to empowering households across Southeast Asia with clean, resilient, and intelligent energy solutions.

A Smarter, More Resilient Residential ESS

In recent years, Southeast Asia has witnessed rapid economic growth, yet its power infrastructure remains underdeveloped, lagging significantly behind broader economic progress. Many countries across the region continue to grapple with unreliable electricity supply and costly backup power solutions.

Sungrow’s new MG5/6/8/10RL inverters, paired with the MGL060 battery (to be released in Q4 2025), introduce a host of cutting-edge features tailored for Southeast Asia’s increasingly energy-conscious residential sector. Engineered for full-power operation even in harsh climates of up to 45 °C, the system supports uninterrupted power supply through seamless backup switching within 4 milliseconds. PID Zero, a feature that prevents and reverses solar panel degradation, ensures long-term PV module efficiency, while support for over 50 third-party battery brands adds unparalleled system compatibility.

Scalable from 5 kW to 80 kW with parallel configuration of up to eight units, the system meets the diverse needs of residential homes, small-scale commercial and off-grid applications. It also supports “Battery Ready” and “Backup Only” modes, allowing users to gradually upgrade their systems with minimal upfront investment.

Silent Power with High Output

Despite its compact size, Sungrow’s MG Series delivers high surge performance—up to 200% overload for 10 seconds—allowing users to operate heavy appliances like air conditioners or washing machines during outages. Whisper-quiet operation, as low as 35 dB, ensures minimal disruption to home life. Meanwhile, its multifunctional port design simplifies integration of PV expansion, diesel generators, and partial load management, streamlining energy control for everyday users.

Built for Southeast Asia’s Energy Future

The new residential ESS is tailored to address Southeast Asia’s growing appetite for distributed clean energy solutions. With rising electricity costs and frequent outages in many regions, demand for residential solar-plus-storage systems has surged—particularly in countries like Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand.

The upcoming MGL060 battery brings further innovation, using 314Ah LFP cells with 8,000-cycle lifespan (EOL 60%)—offering a throughput capacity three times higher than the industry average. It also features pack-level DC/DC energy optimization, enabling efficient performance even when mixing new and aged battery units.

Deep Roots in Southeast Asia

“Sungrow has been active in Southeast Asia for over 15 years. We have established 10 local service centers across SEA which are backed by a robust warehousing and logistics network,” said by Mr. Ruan, Southeast Asia Regional Director at Sungrow. “In this first half year, Sungrow closely collaborated with partners to host over 50 marketing events through online and offline channels. The distribution network of Sungrow in SEA has grown 10-fold in recent years. Additionally, supported by enhanced warehouse management systems in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, Sungrow has significantly improved efficiency and operational standards,” stressed Mr. Ruan.

The company’s comprehensive product lineup spans residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications, including floating PV systems and rapid shutdown solutions. “We’ve expanded our strategy to include both direct sales and distribution partnerships,” explained Mr. Ruan. “Our partners understand local markets deeply and offer flexible, fast responses—essential in a region as fragmented and fast-moving as Southeast Asia.”

Sungrow’s service infrastructure includes regional repair centers, on-site technicians, and a robust training ecosystem for partners. Its ESG commitments are also strong: the company’s Thailand facility is powered by rooftop solar and operates with near-zero carbon emissions, while supply chain partners are encouraged to adopt measurable decarbonization targets.

A Future-Proof Solution

Looking ahead, Sungrow aims to continue expanding its market leadership in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on residential storage. By combining innovation, localization, and sustainability, the company is positioning itself as the partner of choice for clean, reliable energy across the region.

“Sungrow has always focused on providing top-quality products and services, with an eye on the long game.” added Mr. Wu, Senior Vice President of Sungrow.
